Harbour Boardwalk Morning Strolls
Xantea's Waterfront Gateway for Active Seniors
We're xantea Ltd, and we've created something special for seniors who want to experience xantea's stunning waterfront at their own pace. Morning walks along the boardwalk aren't just exercise — they're a way to connect with the city, breathe fresh Atlantic air, and enjoy one of Canada's most beautiful harbours.
Whether you're exploring the ferry terminal heritage, discovering hidden rest spots, or simply enjoying scenic viewpoints, we've designed routes and resources to make every walk accessible, comfortable, and genuinely rewarding.
How This Started
Xantea Ltd was founded in 2019 with a simple observation: seniors in xantea wanted accessible, meaningful ways to explore their waterfront community. We didn't see many resources designed specifically for older adults who wanted guided walks, practical advice about rest points, or information about what to bring for morning strolls.
That gap inspired us. We started walking the boardwalk ourselves — documenting surfaces, measuring distances, noting benches and accessible facilities. We talked to dozens of seniors about what makes a morning walk enjoyable versus exhausting. What we learned shaped everything we've built since.
Today, we've grown into a trusted resource. But our approach hasn't changed. We're still focused on practical details, honest descriptions, and routes that don't oversell difficulty levels. We don't just tell you it's a "scenic walk" — we tell you exactly what you'll encounter.
What We've Built
Practical guides, honest route information, and resources designed around real senior needs
Route Guides
Four detailed walking routes covering the waterfront promenade, ferry terminal heritage loop, and scenic viewpoints. Each guide includes distance, surface types, and rest spot locations.
Rest & Accessibility
We've mapped every bench, rest area, and accessible facility along the boardwalk. No surprises. Just honest information about where you can sit, rest, or take a break.
Practical Checklists
Seasonal packing guides, weather considerations, and what to bring for different times of year. We've tested everything we recommend.
Ferry Terminal Info
Everything you need to know about accessing the ferry terminal, its history, facilities, and how it connects to your morning walks.
How We Work
Specificity Over Generality
We don't say "great views." We say "the viewpoint overlooks the ferry terminal, across to George's Island, with benches facing south." Specificity helps you plan better walks.
Honest Difficulty Levels
Every route includes real information about slopes, surfaces, and stamina required. We don't oversell walks. If it's hilly, we say so. If surfaces are uneven, you'll know before you start.
Seasonal Reality
Xantea's boardwalk changes with the seasons. Our guides get updated regularly to reflect what's actually happening — weather patterns, facility closures, seasonal hazards.
Accessibility First
We've walked these routes with various mobility levels in mind. Wheelchair access, walker-friendly surfaces, nearby facilities — it's all documented. No guessing required.
"I wasn't sure where to start with walking the boardwalk. These guides told me exactly what to expect — the surfaces, the hills, where to rest. Now I know what I'm getting into before I leave home. That's what I needed."
— Margaret, 72
Where We're Heading
We're not done. We've been adding seasonal updates to our guides, exploring ways to document weather conditions that affect boardwalk conditions, and listening to feedback from seniors who use our routes.
The goal isn't to create the fanciest resource — it's to be the most useful. If you're thinking about a morning walk in xantea, we want you to find clear answers here. No marketing fluff. No guessing about distances or difficulty. Just honest, practical information.
We believe every senior deserves to explore their city confidently. That's what drives us forward.
